Vikra's Snapshots

flexing my amateurishly good photography

I always loved clicked pictures—more so of the nature and elements around me than of the people.

From my teenage years to mid-twenties, photography is still one of my first and constant hobbies. Folks who spent enough time with me know how I randomly turn on the camera and start clicking. It just feels good.

Although I have no idea how to handle professional cameras, which I intend to learn someday, I can say I managed to take some fairly good pictures in the past few years.

Sharing a few of ‘em with you today; with some short stories around ‘em <3

But before we get into beautiful pictures and stories, say hi to our sponsors:

(If you’re exploring AI and the possibilities with it, you might love this)

AI won’t take your job, but a person using AI might. That’s why 500,000+ professionals read The Rundown – the free newsletter that keeps you updated on the latest AI news and teaches you how to apply it in just 5 minutes a day.

Ready? Don’t expect these to be perfect but beautiful.

Shimla (2022): I find mountain animals’ fur pretty stylish. But when they don a hat? That’s rizzzzz.

Telangana (2018): I was on a roadtrip with my school friends to Nagarjuna Sagar—and yours truly made two cars stop because he wanted to take this picture :p.

(2023) am I even a Hyderabadi if I don’t have Charminar in my gallery?

(2023): The view from the top of Charminar

Qutub Shahi Tombs (2022): This is how life looks like when you finally see progress after years of hardwork; like now is your time to shine.

Andhra Pradesh (2024): Kakinada is popular for fishing and I was lucky enough to see fisherman in action at 6 am. Morning like these when you see something new >>>

I can get on another 100 flights and I still go “woooooooooow!”

Poodur (2021): Accidentally discovered this *I don’t know how to describe this beauty* sunset. This is from my village/native place.

Just two babies being friends :)

Every time I finish reading a book, I take a neat picture in memory of it. Digital books have ruined this experience for me, but I still do it when I get my hands on paperbacks/hardcopies.

Rajasthan (2020): I wonder what architecture students think about Rajasthan’s forts. I was amazed by the beauty, engineering, and stories associated with them.

Turns out you don’t need to be a spiritual guy to capture divinity.

This was on a December winter morning. The sun just came out after a long night’s cold and someone seems to be enjoying the warmth 👀

Bombay (2020): I was on the boat to Elephanta caves and captured this Siberian Seagull. Later I found out these species are only here for 2-3 months between November and January.

…and when we got to Elephanta caves, my uncle fed a few nuts to this monkiepie. I took this picture because I was shocked to see the number of nuts this little one could store in its throat.

I had this clock for 20+ years. Most things/people in my life stay long, and pictures like this remind me of the journey so far.

This is probably one the saddest stories you will hear. We got a few puppies in our locality. It was winter and if you have seen puppies closely, you know how they cuddle together during the night. It’s one of the cutest sibling love you can witness (the picture on the left.) Unfortunately, someone drove over the white pup and it died. The other little one, continued to sleep on his/her siblings body until the local municipality took the pup away (picture on the right)

If you want to see some bats fly, drop by my home around 6 pm. It’s fun! Although, the way I see bats completely changed after I watched The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Coorg (2023): First sunset of my first solo trip

Manali (2022): As someone from the south, houses on mountains always fascinate me. It’s one of my favourite views and the walk down the Mall Road in Manali is still fresh in my memory.

Amritsar (2022): Golden temple during the night is magical.

Udipi (2023): I am scared of heights and I had to lean forward from the top of a light house to take this picture. While that little act of bravery itself makes this picture worth being proud of, I also enjoyed watching everyone have a good time at the beach

Kids being kids

Trust me, I waited for a minute to understand what these muchkins were sneaking on. I couldn’t figure it out but managed this picture.

Kodaikanal (2023): Mothers and Protection; same across species

Well, these are a few of the many pictures I clicked from my archives. If you like this kind of issue, do let me know. I will try to do more of these.

Until next time, see ya!
