what's happening in my life?
yoo, i'm back
Writing Vikra’s Café to me is like getting back to a group of friends for a chai after a long day of work. Life lately hadn’t allowed me to meet you, but here I am finally.
It wasn’t about time, but somehow I didn’t have interesting things to share. Or maybe I wasn’t in the space to appreciate and articulate the good stories around me.
Like a few of my writeups, this one will also be a Brain Dump, hopping from one topic to another - mostly focusing on my recent life events.
Lesssgooo?
I will not write 100 micro essays
I was damn excited initially, but the interest only lasted as long as a puppy’s attention on new toys. I am learning to get more concise with my writing and storytelling—which I will get to one day, but I have also realized nuances, details, and the slow pace is one of my storytelling strengths.
If I can tell you a story absorbingly with a hundred details and a thousand extra words, why change that?
Of course my readers matter to me, but more than what my readers love to read, what I love to write comes first.
More proof on why I stopped micro essays:
Looks like vikra's café's subs prefer long-form, one issue per week than micro-essays (2-3 per week)
4 subscribers unsubbed in two issues and I don't feel I'm giving my best either
Will run a poll and take a call today

the micro essays lack the nuance you have + they look forced ngl

…every single word above is true.
But the good part is I have been working on my content systems and I am happy to tell I will publish every Sunday.
Vidya got married
My best friend got hitched ten days ago. It was the first time someone from my close circle got married and I couldn’t help but think:
Jokes apart, I loved dressing up, spending time with my Gang and more than anything seeing Vidya happy and smiling (minus the Hyderabad heat and the stress of managing the wedding.)
Sports and Heat
I have played Cricket over 15 summers but never felt a temperature this high. This is by far the hottest summer I have ever experienced, and given my fitness levels, it only makes it harder for me.
I haven’t performed above par in my last 4-5 matches and I wonder what heat does to my body when I pull off good stuff.
Bless me, and please give detan tips.
Vacation? Yes pleaseeeee!!
Heat reminded me of the tweet I made this morning:
I could really use a summer vacation ⛱

Making New Friends
I realized I haven’t had Gmeets with new people lately. There was a time I was on a spree of talking to new people and turning a few of them into friends.
My schedule these days might not allow it, but I should get back to talking to at least one new person every week. Also, I should look to meet new people in Hyderabad to spend evenings or work from cafés.
PS: If you’re from Hyderabad or know some cool person from this city, hmu.
I visited my village after seven months
I hardly visit my village now - maybe twice or thrice a year.
I went to get some groceries with my cousin. I like the little things in small villages. My brother had a chat with a vegetable lady about some house incident; said hi to at least twenty people in less than an hour; and called a friend to scold him about parking his car in the middle of the road. It’s like a one big family in a small area.
Fun tweets from me:
waits for the sunday whole week only to let it pass while lying on bed 👍

That’s all I have for today.
I have some rants on work cultures/systems in government, startups, and corporates. Might write about them in the next week.
PS: If you love this issue, all I can ask from you is to share Vikra’s Café with a friend or click on sponsor links - both of which cost you 0$ but mean so much to me.
Have a great week ahead!
Love and hugs,
Vikra
