Hello 👋 from Lonavala

ok soooooooooooooo

In partnership with

After six months of working from cafés and my desk - I am finally on my long-due workation. The last I went out was in February to Kodaikanal; now I am in Lonavala.

It’s been only a day and the weather is so very beautiful. I am from Hyderabad and at my home, we have these two-hour cloudbursts followed by calm clouds without a drop of rain. Sometimes, during morning rains, you even get a clear sky with the sun flexing its brightest self.

But in Lonavala, the rain hadn’t stopped in 22 hours (that’s when we entered Lonavala. I am sure it was raining before, too.) Not that I haven’t seen weather like this, but the constant rains amaze me.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to live in a place like this - considering how much I love my outdoor activities. But I am never complaining about lush green hills, cascades, and twenty-two degrees temperature. It’s worth the time.

I will share more about the trip and my plans here.

But first, say hello to our sponsors by visiting their page 👋

What do I plan to do in Lonavala?

Ready? I’ll let my thoughts flow, hopping from one topic to another.

Honestly, we don’t have any plans yet. I am here with my friends on a workation. If we roam around a little, get work done, spend hours talking to each other, and workout - that’s an ideal day for us.

I am happy if the entire week passes like this. If not, I am sure we will carry back a bag full of memories.

It gets gloomy at times. But I am sure we’ll figure out something. We have enough board games to keep us occupied in case it gets hard to step out.

Surprisingly, you can’t rent self-driving cars in Lonavala. It’s weird. We’d love to have a car to drive ourselves around on our impromptu plans. But all our attempts at getting a self-driving car have failed so far. The bright side is we had a cute, decently-long walk yesterday.

Few friends recommended a hike here. It might happen soon.

meet Kitty - yes, that’s his/her name

Apart from all this, I have client projects, new partnerships, and content to work on. I don’t know how I will manage but I gave a heads-up to everyone involved that I am travelling - and my responses and turnaround times will be slower than usual.

What else do I have to share? Umm - think think.

In the last eleven weeks, I exercised 4x a week every week and I don’t want to break the streak. I have had my hardships with my body and this is the first time I actually feel I can make physical health a lifestyle. I don’t want to mess around with that.

Also, when I was on my flight last morning, I finished reading The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse. It’s a cute book with illustrations and short conversations between four characters. It’s my new comfort book; I can see myself randomly opening a page and smiling when I feel like reading pleasant stories.

If you read Vikra’s Café regularly, you know I want to start my comics someday. But after this story, I quickly want to write a short story with simple visuals - and make people smile.

What I talk about when I talk about running is another book I am currently reading. It’s a Murakami memoir. Diksha suggested it to me after I posted about running, saying, “You might like this.” She is right. I might finish this book too.

I will be in Pune for two days. I made a few friends on Twitter, and I don’t want to miss meeting them. We didn’t book our return tickets yet. At least from my end, I can confirm my return based on how many of my friends can make it.

Well, that’s everything I had to share. I will see you soon.

Take care.

Love,
Vikra.
