Fixing my life in 30 days: Day 30

We made it

This is special because I start many things, but I rarely get to the finish line.

Sometimes I drop activities because they are not fun anymore but most times, it’s because I have struggled with consistency historically.

In fact, this 30-day series is one of the most consistent waves I’ve caught after a long long time.

High five to that!

Writing every day is something I already do. But I don’t publish every day.

Let me rephrase it. I don’t promise to publish every day.

This is the first time I did and boy, it wasn’t easy. There were days I got back home at 3 am and was tired as hell. Some match days with dehydration and headache. Some days, with a really bad mood to do anything but write.

But I have managed to deliver my best—EVERY SINGLE DAY for 30 days

I’ll get to the point. Speaking of the goals we have set midway and the idea of ‘fixing my life in 30 days’, I don’t think I have accomplished everything, but I can see all standards were definitely raised.

The lines in bold were the targets set and the sentence that follows is what I have managed to achieve.

Also, the icons:

✅: Success
⛔️: Failed but decent progress
❌: Failed miserably

  1. ⛔️ I should close at least two clients → almost closed a lead—will get confirmation soon.

  2. ⛔️ Get 60 more subs for Cognition (now at 605) → managed to get 26 subs

  3. ⛔️ Get 30 more subs for Vikra’s Café (now at 263) → managed to get 13 subs

  4. ✅ Develop one new hobby → 20 days in and drawing is still fun

  5. ✅ Lose at least three kgs → lost exactly three kgs

  6. ✅ Workout 4x a week → there was physical activity almost everyday: match, practice, or gym

  7. ⛔️ Make at least 10 guests say yes to writing guest emails on Cognition → 4 guests said yes

  8. ❌ Meditate 5x a week → Failed badly after a 4-day streak

  9. ⛔️ Publish biz ebook → Dropped the idea because planning something better

  10. ❌ Publish 2023 Travel Memoir → Failed badly

Thoughts and observations from the challenge:

  1. I should have picked three targets or less. ‘Fixing my life’ is a great as idea, but I could only do a bunch of tasks every day. If I do this again, I’ll prioritize three activities at most and will stick to it

    Examples:
    - 5 cold emails a day for 30 days
    - Working out for 30 days
    - Writing 500 words per day for 30 days

  2. Daily and public updates are good for accountability. It was fun to message folks I’ve just published at 3 am when they asked if I missed the streak at 1ish

  3. Define what you want to achieve before the challenge begins. Backtrack into processes and set up short-term goals (every 10 days.) I specified my targets on the 11th day. The results might have been better if I had set them early

  4. Encouragement makes a difference. I constantly received messages from readers, which pushed me to not take this lightly on the easy-to-give-up days

  5. People notice. Just because you have no replies to stories or no likes to tweets, doesn’t mean no one is noticing. Two friends asked me about the challenge when I met them and honestly, I had no idea these guys were reading (or at least knew I was up to something)

The journey was beautiful ♥️

I love how reading Vikra’s Café as the last thing before you sleep or the first thing after you wake up became a ritual for you. I get a lot of messages mentioning this. I am truly grateful. Even I enjoyed writing every night before I sleep. Tomorrow will be weird.

The 30-day challenge ends here, but I will be back with my usual weekly issues

Until the next time we meet ✨

Happy New Year ♥️

Love,
Vikra
